Spicy Cheese Bites

Remember way back in December when I talked about getting together with friends for a fondue night? Well if you don’t, I’ll recap just a bit. We don’t do dessert fondue or cheese. Instead, we each bring our favorite meats and veggies, heat oil in our fondue pots and deep fry our way through dinner one fork at a time.

I always bring breaded cheese bites – so yummy! This last time, I decided to kick it up a notch by using pepper jack cheese and adding a few of Tastefully Simple’s spicy dip mixes to the breading. They were a HUGE hit.

Well it’s been a little while since we’ve had one of those get-togethers, and I’ve been craving those cheese bites. So, I got a little crafty. I took an idea I’ve seen floating around Pinterest for awhile and put my own twist on it. The result: delicious little cheese bites with just enough kick! And, honestly, they’re so, so incredibly quick and easy! Give ’em a try!

Spicy Cheese Bites

Ingredients

Directions

Preheat oven to 425°. In a bowl, combine the first three ingredients; set aside. Whip the egg gently with a fork in a separate bowl; set aside. Cut each string cheese stick into 4 pieces. Coat each cheese piece in egg, then toss in bread crumbs to coat. Repeat this twice so all pieces are double-breaded. Place cheese on a greased, foil-lined baking sheet. Bake for about 7 minutes. Serve with prepared Mama Mia Marinara sauce mix or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips and Hints

  • If you want to try to fondue cheese cubes like this, use the same process. Just substitute the cheese for one 8 oz. block of pepper jack cheese cut into 12-16 cubes.
  • I actually tried to do this with pepper jack cheese in the oven and ended up with a melty mess. It was ugly, but for those brave enough to scrape melted cheese off the pan, it was still delicious.
  • As with all of my recipes, feel free to adjust the amount of seasonings you add to create more or less spice depending on your liking.
