Sweetheart Lemon Pound Cake Recipe

1. Preheat oven to 325°F. In large bowl, combine one Sunny Lemon Pound Cake & Icing Mix packet 1, 1 cup water and ½ cup melted butter. Stir in a small amount of gel or liquid pink or red food coloring. Blend well. Do not overmix; batter will be lumpy.
2. Transfer to a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Bake 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely; remove from pan. 
3. Using a small (1½-inch) heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut heart shapes from the cake from top to bottom. Set aside.
4. In large bowl, combine second Sunny Lemon Pound Cake & Icing Mix packet 1, 1 cup water and ½ cup melted butter. Pour a thin layer of batter in the bottom of a greased 9x5-inch loaf pan. Line up heart-shaped cake segments in the center of the pan; pour remaining cake batter around and over the heart-shaped pieces. 
5. Bake 50-55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean and the cake is golden brown around the edges. Cool complete; remove from pan.
6. In small bowl, combine one Sunny Lemon Pound Cake & Icing Mix* packet 2 with remaining 2 tablespoons melted butter and 1 tablespoon water. Stir until smooth; drizzle over cake.

*Save remaining Sunny Lemon Pound Cake & Icing Mix packet 2 for another use.
