Wild Wieners, Crazy Condiments and the Bite of the Buffalo

It has finally warmed up and I am PSYCHED for our first backyard bash of the season! And here at Tastefully Simple we have these fab product collections called "Entertaining Collections." It's a box of TS goodies – PLUS recipes, themed party menus, printables (think cutesy banners, labels, tags, toppers …) and a bevy of entertaining checklists, invites and tools. It's a party in a box!

The Patriotic Picnic Collection features a 4th of July menu, and it also supports my new grilling habit (including Grilled Strawberry & Pound Cake Kabobs – check it out!). There’s a "how-to" printable to create a delicious "Build-it-your-Way" Bar, that features a bunch of fun and tasty condiments, so that you and your guests can dress up your burgers, chicken, brats and hot dogs.

Now back to my upcoming bash … and I'm thinking WIENER BAR! We are grilling up a whole bunch of wieners – basic, old-fashioned, cheesy, brats – you name it! Then we'll have a fabulous array of toppers on our "Build-it-Your-Way" bar. #nomoreboringwieners

So be sure to check out our Patriotic Picnic Collection, as well as the wiener bar and our Pinterest board for details.

Below, you'll find the recipe for "The Buffalo" – which is a wienie topped with Cheddar, avocado, tomato and our fantastic, two-ingredient Buffalo Blue Sauce. Yum!

Tips and Hints

  • Buffalo sauce is traditionally paired with blue cheese dressing, but I will tell you that blending this buffalo sauce with ranch dressing is just as good.
  • There is nothing better than a toasted bun, and it’s so easy to do! Just schmear the cut side with butter, mayo or oil, and pop it onto the grill for a minute.  It’s totally worth it!
  • I always provide leaves of romaine or butter lettuce as a low-carb bun alternative. I know someone (ahem …) who likes to have the first dog on a bun, and then go bunless for seconds. And thirds aren’t out of the question!
