Spicy Parmesan Party Mix

OK gang - get ready to party! Fall is well on its way. That means there are many snacking opportunities ahead. School snacks, football game snacks, last-chance camping snacks ... the list goes on. There's nothing like a bowlful of salty, spicy party mix to cure the munchies. And did you know that you can use your slow cooker as a little, portable oven? It's pretty cool because it doesn't heat your whole house and there's little clean up since most things can be mixed up right in the crock.

Our new Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce is the perfect way to spice up your party mix. It's so easy - just blend it with a little melted butter, toss it with a few crunchies and you're off! Bake it in your slow cooker with the lid off and soon your kitchen will be filled with an irresistible, spicy aroma. And if your guests are like mine, they will be sneaking nibbles of snack mix before it's cooked and cooled. So this weekend, mix up a batch of Spicy Parmesan Party Mix. Serve it to guests or make grab-and-go snack bags for your family to enjoy all week long!

Spicy Parmesan Party Mix

  • 3 cups oven-toasted corn cereal (such as Corn Chex™)
  • 2 cups baked Cheddar crackers
  • 3 cups pretzels
  • 1/3 cup Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce
  • ¼ cup (½ stick) melted butter

Place first 3 ingredients in a large ungreased slow cooker. In a small bowl, mix wing sauce and melted butter. Pour over snack mixture; toss to coat. Cook, uncovered, on high for 2 hours and 15 minutes, or until crunchy, stirring well every 30 minutes. Makes 10-12 servings. Tip: Like it spicy? Use ½ cup Garlic Parmesan Wing Sauce.

Tips and Hints

  • Use your favorite crunchies in this recipe - I made mine with honey wheat pretzel twists, little chicky cheese crackers, Corn Chex® and Cheerios®. I sometimes add mixed nuts or rye crackers. Even oyster crackers are good. just keep the same total number of cups. (If you get carried away, just add a little more sauce. It's a very forgiving recipe!)
  • Since my 6-quart slow cooker tends to run really hot, I did tinker with the temp, switching it from high to low a couple of times to prevent burnt cheese chicks.
  • It crisps up a lot as it cooks. If you sneak some out of the slow cooker before it's done, you may think it's a little moist. In the end, it will be just fine.
  • To save on dishes, turn on the slow cooker, add the butter and let it melt. Blend in the wing sauce and add the crunchies and gently toss it all together until it's all nicely coated.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Can't get enough! I have made this recipe four times since first discovering it. It is by far my favorite snack - and I can't seem to stop eating it! It travels well, great for football Sundays and parties. There is just enough spice in the Garlic Parmesan Sauce to give this a little kick, but it's not overpowering.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So yummy! I made this mix using the wing sauce and it's great! If you like a garlic/parm flavor and a kick of heat at the end this is for you! My husband had to take the bowl away from me because I was eating it like it was going out of style!
