Spiced Autumn Trifle

Have you heard about our Buttered Rum Sauce? It's a brand new product that was released a few days ago. I'm so excited about it. I couldn't wait to get home and try it out in a recipe!

This sauce is the perfect topper for just about anything:

And this - my Spiced Autumn Trifle! I'm a big fan of trifles. They look incredibly impressive and they're so simple to whip up in a flash. I added some pumpkin pie spice to my pudding layer for this trifle to give it the perfect cozy flavor. I will most definitely be bringing this to Thanksgiving dinner!


Spiced Autumn Trifle


  • ¾ cup (1½ sticks) melted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 3.4 oz. pkg. instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 8 oz. whipped topping, thawed
  • 1½ cups milk
  • 1 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • Buttered Rum Sauce (for drizzling)


Prepare Classy Chocolate Pound Cake as directed on the package with butter and water; cool completely. Cut pound cake into cubes or slices. Combine pudding mix and milk; whisk 2 minutes; fold in whipped topping and pumpkin pie spice. Layer cake cubes and pudding mixture in a clear glass bowl or individual cups. Chill until ready to serve (within 1-2 hours). Drizzle Buttered Rum Sauce on top; serve. Serves 10-12.

Tips and Hints

  • Truffle Fudge Brownie chunks would be a great substitute for Classy Chocolate Pound Cake.
  • For some added fancy flair, I decided to make a few smaller trifles in wine glasses. So fun!
  • I just hate the thought of running out of Buttered Rum Sauce, but the sad truth is that it's only available while supplies last. And the fact is, we will eventually run out. When that terrifying moment comes, know that you have options! You can simply go without a topper - like we did in this recipe. Or, you can also use Creamy Caramel Sauce as a delicious topper for this decadent trifle.

TS Tip - For best results when baking use ingredients at room temperature.
