Red, White & Blue

If you could have any snack right now, would it be sweet or savory? I’m sweet all the way, but know a few people that would rather eat a bag of salty chips, than eat a piece of chocolate. I don’t understand those people, but will gladly hand over the salty snack for a sweet treat!

So when it comes to appetizers, I always try to make sure I have both sweet and savory – to please all the palets!

If you’re looking for something sweet and a little festive – you’ll have to try this new recipe for Fruit Salsa with Cinnamon Chips. I had the kids help cut up tortillas (with kid friendly scissors) and they thought it was the best thing ever! I have to keep reminding myself that it’s the simple, little things that float a kids boat.

Another delicious fruity appetizer that straddles the sweet/savory combo line are these Watermelon & Blackberry Bites. Yummlicious. And adorable. Use that cookie cutter for fruit – not just holiday cookies!

Something that’s a little red, a little white and not so blue – are these Ranch Roasted Potatoes. I made these thinking the family would probably eat them and have a normal family reaction such as: eating them and not saying a word whether they liked it or not. But that’s good enough for me, as long as my kids eat something. (If you have picky eaters or younger kids in general, you know what I mean.) Let me tell you, my family LOVED these potatoes. You’d think I made the most delicious food ever (maybe I did…). And the Classic Ranch Dip just added to the deliciousness. Safe to say, I’ll be making these many more times, just to watch my family gobble them up!

As you can see, I have a few patriotic appetizers up my sleeve this weekend!

Enjoy!
