Easy Does It

Spring is right around the corner, and as the weather starts to warm up, our schedules tend to pick up. As a busy momma of three, I’d rather spend my time with the kiddos than slaving away in a kitchen.

Last week I was really craving something quick, something simple and something with flavor that would remind me of warmer days and sunshine. So I chose to make Bayou Joes with Sesame Broccoli Slaw.

I mixed some Ultimate Steak Seasoning with crumbled burger in a skillet. Once it was browned, I added Bayou Bourbon Glaze and let it simmer for a few minutes.

While the meat was simmering, I tossed my slaw mix with some mayonnaise, sesame seed oil and Ultimate Steak Seasoning.

That’s it! I loaded some meat mixture on a bun and topped it with the coleslaw and some crispy French-fried onions. I served it with fresh veggies and baked beans.

This recipe was so easy that my 11-year-old could make it. In fact, the Tastefully Simple meal kits are a great way to teach your kids to cook. This is how I look at it: the more tasks you teach your children, the less you have to do … oh, and it does turn them into self-sufficient adults one day, so there’s that, too.

Another great thing about these home meal kits is the meal planning! When you have a meal plan, you know when to thaw meat first thing in the morning. Honestly, there is never a fuss at my house over meal time and if Tastefully Simple wants to plan my meals, I’ll let them!

Plus, Tastefully Simple changes the meal kit options periodically so you can always mix things up. You’ll never get tired of the same old boring meals with these kits. Check out all the meal kits here »
