Consultants SHINE at Virtual Conference
July 30, 2020. At Tastefully Simple headquarters in Alexandria, Minnesota, the excitement was electric in the air. There was the usual hum and bustle of last-minute, behind-the-scenes preparations as team members and technical staff checked and rechecked their scripts and cues. Then, at 4:00 pm, Founder & CEO Jill Blashack Strahan stepped onstage and greeted more than 1,250 cheering Tastefully Simple consultants … online. It was just like any other national conference – except that Jill was speaking from a stage in a mostly empty room, and the consultants were cheering from their own homes via the wonders of technology. Tastefully Simple’s first Virtual Party Palooza conference had begun. Consultants SHINE at Virtual Conference blog post | Tastefully Simple This annual conference, called Party Palooza, is traditionally the “biggest party of the year” for our company’s consultants, who gather to experience leading-edge training, motivation from company leadership and industry experts, and recognition for their achievements during the year. With large-scale gatherings on hold this year due to COVID-19, we pivoted to an online event, with a goal of giving consultants every bit of the excitement, fun, training and recognition they were accustomed to. Consultants SHINE at Virtual Conference blog post | Tastefully Simple It was an undertaking, but in line with Tastefully Simple’s commitment to meeting our consultants and clients where they are. Since 1995, our consultants have sold foods and meal kits primarily through at-home tasting parties. But, again because of COVID-19, home parties were paused. As a company, we responded by leveraging technologies that bring people together virtually, and our consultants began offering online parties for their hosts and clients. People are partying with Tastefully Simple more than ever. Similarly, our virtual Party Palooza used technology to give participants a feeling of being together to learn, celebrate and shine! Elements like a “virtual red carpet” created excitement for consultants who were honored for their successes, while interactive training sessions allowed participants to hone their skills and gain ideas from one another. Consultants SHINE at Virtual Conference blog post | Tastefully Simple Though different from previous years’ conferences, the virtual model proved popular with consultants, who appreciated the opportunity to glean all the benefits of the event without having to travel. One participant, Trish Vieregge Ziegler, posted on Facebook, “Thank you, Jill and the HQ team, for an AMAZING virtual Party Palooza. It was more than I ever imagined!” Another, Sharon E. Wessel, posted, “Thanks for making the difficult decision to change to virtual, it was wonderful to still have the conference! Gave me the kick start I needed.” Whether it’s on location or online, next year’s Party Palooza promises to be just as exciting and rewarding.
